At Kartal Auto, we pride ourselves on offering premium services for luxury vehicles, and recently, we had the privilege of completing a ceramic coating treatment for a Bentley Continental GTC. While applying this state-of-the-art protective layer, we encountered several issues that required expert attention. Our team was able to quickly identify these challenges and implement the best solutions to ensure the vehicle not only looked stunning but was also fully protected against the elements.
Issues Identified:
- Existing Paint Imperfections and Swirl Marks
- Problem: Prior to applying the ceramic coating, we discovered that the Bentley’s paintwork had several swirl marks and light scratches, likely caused by improper washing techniques or environmental contaminants.
- Solution: To ensure the ceramic coating would bond properly and provide a flawless finish, we performed a paint correction process. This involved a multi-stage polishing procedure to remove the swirl marks and imperfections. After correcting the paint, we ensured it was perfectly smooth, allowing the ceramic coating to adhere properly and provide maximum protection.
- Water Spots and Mineral Deposits
- Problem: The exterior of the car had visible water spots and mineral deposits, particularly around the windows and on the body panels, likely from previous rain or water drying on the surface.
- Solution: Before applying the ceramic coating, our team used a water spot remover to eliminate these deposits. By carefully treating the affected areas, we ensured that all mineral residues were removed, allowing the ceramic layer to form a consistent bond across the entire surface.
- Unsealed Contaminants and Tar Build-Up
- Problem: Upon inspection, we found that there were tar spots and contaminants on the vehicle’s paint, which could affect the adhesion of the ceramic coating if not properly removed.
- Solution: We performed a thorough decontamination wash, which included the use of clay bars to remove stubborn tar spots, industrial fallout, and other contaminants. Once the surface was perfectly clean, we conducted a final wash to ensure no residue was left, creating an ideal surface for the ceramic coating.
- Inconsistent Surface Preparation
- Problem: Some areas of the car, particularly around intricate body lines and curves, were not properly prepared for the coating application. These sections were at risk of the coating not bonding evenly, which could result in patchy coverage.
- Solution: Our team meticulously ensured that every inch of the vehicle was properly prepared. Using specialized tools and techniques, we made sure that no part of the car was overlooked, ensuring an even and consistent application of the ceramic coating, even on the most difficult-to-reach areas.
- Improper Application of Ceramic Coating
- Problem: In some instances, previous owners may have applied a layer of wax or other protective coatings that interfered with the ceramic coating’s ability to bond to the paint.
- Solution: We first performed a full paint de-waxing to strip any old coatings. After removing all remnants of wax, sealants, and other protective layers, we applied the ceramic coating in multiple layers, ensuring proper curing and maximum protection. Our precision ensured a flawless finish with an even distribution of the ceramic product across the entire vehicle.
