At Kartal Auto, we specialize in offering high-quality Paint Protection Film (PPF) services to luxury vehicles. Recently, we had the pleasure of working on a Maserati Gran Cabrio in Dubai, providing it with a protective PPF application. During the process, our experts discovered several issues that needed attention to ensure the PPF was applied flawlessly. Here, we outline the issues we encountered and the solutions we implemented to deliver the best protection for the Maserati Gran Cabrio.

Issues Found:

  1. Surface Imperfections and Scratches Upon inspecting the Maserati Gran Cabrio’s paint before applying the PPF, we discovered several minor scratches and surface imperfections, particularly on the front bumper and side panels. These imperfections, if left unaddressed, could interfere with the application of the PPF and affect its long-term adhesion.
    Solution:
To resolve this issue, we performed a detailed paint correction process. Our team used specialized polishing tools and compounds to eliminate the scratches and imperfections, ensuring the surface was smooth and flawless. This created the perfect base for the PPF to adhere to, allowing the film to bond seamlessly with the paint for optimal protection.
  2. Contaminants on the Paint Surface We noticed that there were contaminants on the car’s paint surface, including dust, road tar, and other environmental debris. If these contaminants weren’t properly removed before applying the PPF, they could create bubbles, wrinkles, or other imperfections beneath the film.
    Solution:
Before applying the PPF, we carried out a thorough decontamination process. Using a clay bar, we safely removed all embedded contaminants from the surface, leaving the paint clean and smooth. This ensured that the PPF would adhere perfectly, without any trapped dirt or debris beneath the film, guaranteeing a flawless finish.
  3. Uneven Paint Gloss and Shine Some areas of the Maserati Gran Cabrio showed uneven gloss levels due to the presence of oxidation and minor fading, particularly around the rear fenders and door edges. These variations in gloss could lead to an uneven appearance once the PPF was applied.
    Solution:
To address this, we used an oxidation remover and a polishing compound to restore the shine and gloss on the affected areas. This step ensured that the car’s paint had a consistent finish across all panels, which allowed the PPF to be applied evenly, giving the vehicle a uniform and polished look once the film was installed.
  4. Paint Chips and Small Imperfections During the inspection, we also identified a few paint chips and small imperfections, especially around the front of the vehicle and the wheel arches. If left untreated, these chips could affect the durability of the PPF and potentially lead to issues with its adhesion or appearance.
    Solution:
We carefully touched up the paint chips with color-matched paint and allowed it to fully cure before proceeding with the PPF application. This step ensured that the film would adhere properly, without compromising the protection and overall aesthetics of the vehicle.
  5. Incorrectly Installed Previous PPF (if applicable) In some cases, we noticed that the previous PPF installation had small bubbles and edges that were lifting due to improper application. This not only compromised the effectiveness of the protection but could also have led to premature wear and tear on the film.
    Solution:
We removed the old PPF carefully, ensuring there was no damage to the underlying paint. After cleaning the surface thoroughly and addressing any remaining imperfections, we applied the new PPF using our state-of-the-art installation techniques. This ensured that the new PPF was properly aligned and adhered seamlessly to the vehicle for maximum protection and a clean look.
