At Kartal Auto, we recently had the honor of working on the interior design of the prestigious Rolls Royce Phantom III in Dubai. As one of the most iconic luxury vehicles ever crafted, the Phantom III is a masterpiece that combines exceptional craftsmanship with vintage elegance. Our goal was to enhance its interior while preserving the classic luxury that defines this iconic car. Here are the key issues we encountered during the project and the expert solutions we applied to elevate the interior design of this magnificent vehicle:
Issue Found:
1. Aging Wood Veneers and Trim
- Issue: Over time, the wood veneers in the Phantom III had lost some of their natural luster and finish, showing signs of wear, fading, and minor scratches, which affected the overall richness of the interior.
- Solution: We carefully restored the wood veneers using traditional methods, polishing and refinishing them to their original brilliance. Our team applied multiple layers of varnish and sealant to protect the wood and enhance its natural beauty. The result was a stunning, glossy finish that highlighted the deep grain and rich texture of the wood, bringing a renewed sense of luxury to the cabin.
2. Outdated Upholstery and Fabrics
- Issue: The upholstery and fabrics had worn over time, losing their original color, texture, and plush feel. The luxury materials that once defined the cabin’s aesthetic had aged, making the interior feel less opulent.
- Solution: We replaced the upholstery with the finest custom fabrics and genuine leather, sourced to match the vehicle’s original specifications while adding a modern touch of elegance. The seat covers, door panels, and armrests were meticulously crafted to ensure a seamless fit and luxurious finish. Special care was taken to preserve the vintage feel of the car, with custom color options chosen to enhance the existing color palette while maintaining a sense of heritage.
3. Inconsistent Lighting and Ambiance
- Issue: The interior lighting was outdated, and the cabin’s ambiance lacked the refined atmosphere that one expects from a Rolls Royce Phantom III.
- Solution: We upgraded the interior lighting system by incorporating modern, yet subtle, LED lights that complemented the classic design. Soft ambient lighting was integrated into the cabin to create a serene and luxurious atmosphere. We also included custom-illuminated accents along the footwells, door panels, and center console to enhance the vehicle’s nighttime appeal without overpowering the existing design.
4. Insufficient Storage Solutions and Functional Features
- Issue: The interior lacked modern, functional storage solutions while maintaining its vintage charm, limiting convenience and practicality for daily use.
- Solution: We integrated hidden storage compartments and discreet organizers without compromising the vehicle’s luxurious aesthetic. Custom-designed compartments were added in areas such as the center console, armrests, and beneath the seats. These enhancements not only improved the functionality of the cabin but also ensured that the interior maintained a clean, uncluttered, and luxurious feel.
5. Outdated Technology Integration
- Issue: The Phantom III’s interior design lacked modern technological integration, making it less convenient for today’s driving experience without sacrificing the car’s classical appeal.
- Solution: We carefully introduced state-of-the-art technology in a way that seamlessly blended with the interior’s traditional design. A discreet infotainment system was integrated into the dashboard, offering modern connectivity options like Bluetooth, navigation, and advanced audio systems. Additionally, we ensured all technology was carefully hidden behind custom panels and wood finishes, maintaining the vehicle’s classic look while providing all the functionality of modern-day luxury cars.
