Throughout the project, we encountered several challenges but applied expert solutions to ensure that the interior was restored to its authentic splendor.
Challenges & Expert Solutions
1. Faded & Cracked Leather Upholstery
Issue: The original leather upholstery had suffered from years of exposure to sunlight, resulting in cracks, fading, and stiffness.
Solution: We treated the leather with premium conditioners to restore its suppleness and color. For areas beyond repair, we replaced the damaged leather with period-correct, high-quality hides, ensuring a seamless and authentic restoration.
2. Worn & Uneven Seat Cushions
Issue: The seat cushions had lost their shape and support, leading to an uncomfortable seating experience.
Solution: We rebuilt the seat cushions using high-density foam and traditional materials like horsehair, ensuring the seats were both comfortable and supportive, restoring them to their original ergonomic design.
3. Deteriorated Carpeting
Issue: The carpeting in the cabin and trunk had worn thin, showing signs of fading and fraying.
Solution: We replaced the old carpet with luxurious wool carpeting, custom-fitted to the vehicle’s precise specifications, enhancing both comfort and the overall aesthetic of the interior.
4. Worn-out Door Panels & Trim
Issue: The door panels had suffered from age-related wear, with leather peeling and trim losing its luster.
Solution: We reupholstered the door panels with matching leather and restored the trim, ensuring a cohesive and elegant look. This also included restoring the handles and hardware to their original functionality and appearance.
5. Deteriorating Wooden Dashboard & Trim
Issue: The wood trim on the dashboard had developed cracks, fading, and moisture damage over the years.
Solution: We refinished the wood trim with period-correct techniques, restoring the shine and natural beauty of the wood while ensuring its durability. This process helped bring back the original elegance and sophistication of the dashboard.
