At Kartal Auto, we take pride in offering exceptional services for luxury vehicles, and we recently had the privilege of applying ceramic coating to a Bentley Continental GT. The Bentley Continental GT is a symbol of sophistication, luxury, and performance, and ensuring that its stunning exterior remains pristine is essential to maintaining its value and visual appeal. The ceramic coating we applied provides an advanced layer of protection, keeping the car’s paintwork looking as new as the day it left the factory. During the process, we identified a few challenges that required expert attention to ensure the best results. Below, we explain the issues we encountered and the solutions we implemented to provide the best protection for this luxury vehicle.
Issue Found:
1. Issue: Paint Imperfections (Swirl Marks and Minor Scratches)
- Problem: Before applying the ceramic coating, we noticed swirl marks and minor scratches in the paintwork. These imperfections can compromise the effectiveness of the ceramic coating and leave the paint looking uneven, even after the coating is applied.
- Solution: To address this, we performed a paint correction process using a dual-action polisher and specialized compounds. The paint correction removed swirl marks, minor scratches, and other imperfections from the surface, ensuring the paint was smooth and flawless. Once the paint was corrected, the surface was ready for the ceramic coating, allowing the protective layer to bond perfectly to the paint and ensure a smooth, glossy finish.
2. Issue: Surface Contamination (Tar, Sap, and Road Grime)
- Problem: Upon initial inspection, we found that the surface of the Bentley’s paint was contaminated with tar, sap, and road grime. These contaminants can prevent the ceramic coating from bonding properly to the surface, leading to uneven protection and a less effective finish.
- Solution: We used a clay bar treatment to safely and effectively remove all surface contaminants, including tar, tree sap, and grime. This process eliminates any particles that could interfere with the bonding of the ceramic coating. After decontaminating the surface, we followed up with a deep wash to ensure the car was free of any residual contaminants, leaving the paintwork in perfect condition for the ceramic coating application.
3. Issue: Water Spots and Mineral Deposits
- Problem: The Bentley’s exterior showed signs of water spots and mineral deposits, which are often left behind from washing or rainwater. These deposits can etch into the paint over time and leave behind marks that are difficult to remove, which would affect the final appearance after ceramic coating application.
- Solution: To remove the water spots and mineral deposits, we applied a water spot remover and used a microfiber towel to buff the affected areas. After thoroughly cleaning and restoring the surface, we polished the paint to restore its shine and smoothness. This ensured that the paint was free of any imperfections, allowing the ceramic coating to create an even, durable layer of protection.
4. Issue: Difficulty in Reaching Certain Areas of the Vehicle
- Problem: The Bentley Continental GT has intricate curves, tight corners, and various hard-to-reach areas around the bodywork, such as the side mirrors, door handles, and lower bumpers. These areas can be tricky to apply ceramic coating evenly, and neglecting them can lead to uneven protection.
- Solution: To ensure that every part of the vehicle received complete coverage, we used specialized tools and brushes to reach the tight areas. Our technicians meticulously applied the ceramic coating to the entire surface of the vehicle, including the difficult-to-reach spots. This meticulous attention to detail ensured that the Bentley was fully protected, providing a consistent finish throughout the car’s exterior.
5. Issue: Application of Ceramic Coating to Exterior Trim and Wheels
- Problem: The exterior trim, grilles, and wheels were not originally part of the vehicle’s protective coating. These areas require special attention to prevent staining or hazing when ceramic coating is applied to paint surfaces.
- Solution: For the wheels and trim, we used a ceramic coating that was specifically formulated for these surfaces, ensuring they received the same level of protection as the paint while maintaining their aesthetic integrity. This ensures that brake dust and road grime are less likely to adhere to the wheels, and the exterior trim stays glossy and protected from the elements.
