At Kartal Auto, we specialize in providing premium detailing and protection services for luxury vehicles, and our recent work on the Bentley EXP 100 GT was a perfect example of our dedication to excellence. During the application of the ceramic coating, we identified several issues that needed our expert attention. Here’s a detailed overview of the problems we encountered and the solutions we implemented to ensure the Bentley’s finish remained flawless and protected for years to come.

Issues Identified:

  1. Surface Contamination and Inadequate Prep Work
    • Problem: Before applying the ceramic coating, we found that the vehicle’s paint had various contaminants, including embedded dirt, industrial fallout, and water spots. These imperfections could potentially cause the coating to bond unevenly, leading to a subpar finish and reduced protection.
    • Solution: To ensure optimal bonding of the ceramic coating, we first performed an extensive decontamination process. This involved using a clay bar treatment to remove any surface contaminants, followed by a thorough wash and drying. Afterward, we applied a chemical prep solution to ensure the paint was completely clean and ready for the ceramic coating application.
  2. Minor Paint Imperfections (Swirl Marks and Light Scratches)
    • Problem: Upon inspecting the vehicle, we discovered swirl marks and light scratches in the paintwork, which would have been highlighted by the ceramic coating and compromised the smooth, reflective finish that is characteristic of luxury cars like the Bentley EXP 100 GT.
    • Solution: We conducted a multi-stage paint correction to remove the swirl marks and scratches. Using professional-grade tools and compounds, we carefully polished the paint to restore its depth and clarity. The result was a flawless surface that perfectly reflected light, providing an ideal foundation for the ceramic coating.
  3. Faded or Oxidized Exterior Trim and Badging
    • Problem: The exterior trim pieces and badging on the Bentley had signs of fading and oxidation. If not addressed, these imperfections could have diminished the overall appearance of the vehicle, especially once the ceramic coating was applied to the body panels.
    • Solution: We performed a polishing and restoration process on the trim, using specialized products to bring back their original luster. Once restored, we applied a protective coating to the trim to ensure long-lasting protection against future oxidation and fading.
  4. Wheel Damage and Curb Rash
    • Problem: The wheels had minor curb rash and some imperfections caused by brake dust buildup, which had caused discoloration and a reduction in their shine.
    • Solution: We carefully polished the wheels and applied a specialized wheel coating that provides long-lasting protection against brake dust, dirt, and water. This treatment restored the wheels’ glossy finish while ensuring they were fully protected from further damage.
  5. Water Spots and Mineral Deposits on Glass
    • Problem: The windows and windshield had water spots and mineral deposits, which could interfere with the application of the ceramic coating and impact visibility when driving, especially in rainy conditions.
    • Solution: We performed a water spot removal treatment on all the glass surfaces, followed by a glass polish to restore clarity. After this, we applied a hydrophobic glass coating to enhance water beading and improve visibility, particularly in wet weather.
