At Kartal Auto, we recently completed a ceramic coating service on a beautiful Maserati Ghibli in Dubai. Our goal was to provide long-lasting protection to the vehicle’s exterior, ensuring a sleek and glossy finish while shielding it from the harsh Dubai climate. During the ceramic coating application, we encountered several issues that required attention to deliver optimal results. Here’s a breakdown of the challenges we found and the solutions we implemented:
Issue Found:
1. Issue: Surface Contamination
- Problem: The Maserati Ghibli’s paint was contaminated with road tar, tree sap, and other particles, which could prevent the ceramic coating from bonding properly.
- Solution: We thoroughly cleaned the vehicle using a clay bar treatment to remove all contaminants from the surface. This ensured the paint was smooth, clean, and free of debris, providing the perfect foundation for the ceramic coating to adhere to.
2. Issue: Swirl Marks and Scratches
- Problem: Upon inspection, the paint showed swirl marks and minor scratches, often caused by improper washing and drying techniques.
- Solution: We performed a paint correction to remove these imperfections. Using specialized polishers, we eliminated the swirl marks and fine scratches, leaving behind a smooth, glossy surface that allowed the ceramic coating to bond perfectly.
3. Issue: Water Spotting and Mineral Deposits
- Problem: Water spots and mineral deposits had developed on the vehicle’s paint due to exposure to Dubai’s intense heat and humidity.
- Solution: We applied a water spot removal treatment, which effectively broke down the mineral deposits and eliminated the water spots. Afterward, the vehicle was rewashed to ensure a pristine surface, ready for the ceramic coating application.
4. Issue: Inconsistent Gloss and Shine
- Problem: Certain areas of the Maserati Ghibli’s paint had an uneven gloss due to improper polishing or oxidation buildup.
- Solution: We performed a high-quality polish to restore the paint’s gloss and even out the shine across the entire vehicle. This ensured that the ceramic coating would create a consistent, reflective finish, providing an enhanced aesthetic.
5. Issue: Unprotected Trim and Exterior Features
- Problem: The vehicle’s trim and rubber seals were exposed to the harsh sun, leading to fading and wear, which would impact the overall appearance once the ceramic coating was applied.
- Solution: We treated the trim and rubber seals with a restorer solution, which rejuvenated the faded areas and protected them from further UV damage. After restoring the trim, we applied the ceramic coating to the vehicle’s main surfaces, ensuring a complete protection package for the entire exterior.
