At Kartal Auto, we are committed to providing superior automotive care, and our recent ceramic coating job on a Maserati Gran Cabrio in Dubai is a perfect example of our dedication to perfection. While working on the vehicle, we discovered several issues that needed attention to ensure the ceramic coating would offer the maximum protection and aesthetic enhancement. Below, we outline the issues we encountered and the solutions we implemented to ensure the Maserati Gran Cabrio received the best possible ceramic coating service.

Issues Found:

  1. Minor Paint Swirl Marks and Scratches During our initial inspection of the Maserati Gran Cabrio, we discovered several swirl marks and fine scratches, particularly on the hood and rear panels. These imperfections often result from improper washing techniques, such as using rough towels or brushes, and can affect the smoothness of the paint, making it difficult for the ceramic coating to bond effectively.
    Solution:
To address this, we performed a thorough paint correction process. Using specialized compounds and polishing pads, we carefully removed the swirl marks and fine scratches, ensuring the paint was as smooth as possible. This process not only improved the appearance but also allowed the ceramic coating to bond perfectly to the surface, ensuring optimal protection and shine.
  2. Water Spots and Mineral Deposits The Maserati Gran Cabrio had visible water spots and mineral deposits, especially around the rear windshield and on the lower sections of the car. These water spots are typically caused by water droplets evaporating and leaving mineral residue behind, which can lead to permanent staining or etching if left untreated.
    Solution:
We used a specialized water spot remover to break down and lift the mineral deposits from the affected areas. After thoroughly removing the spots, we polished the surfaces to restore the clarity and smoothness. This preparation ensured that the ceramic coating could be applied without interference, providing a flawless finish and an additional layer of protection.
  3. Oxidation and Fading on Exterior Panels The Maserati Gran Cabrio had signs of oxidation and fading on several high-exposure areas like the front bumper and side mirrors, likely due to the harsh Dubai sun. The oxidation caused the paint to look dull, diminishing the car’s overall shine and clarity.
    Solution:
To restore the paint’s original shine, we used an oxidation remover and applied a polishing compound to gently buff out the oxidized areas. This step not only revived the color and gloss but also prepared the surface for the ceramic coating application, ensuring that the vehicle would have a rich, high-gloss finish once the coating was applied.
  4. Contaminants on the Paint Surface Our inspection revealed that the Maserati Gran Cabrio had several contaminants, including road grime, industrial fallout, and tar, embedded in the paint. These contaminants could interfere with the ceramic coating’s ability to bond properly to the paint surface, resulting in less effective protection.
    Solution:
We performed a thorough decontamination process using a clay bar treatment to safely remove any embedded contaminants. This step is critical before applying any ceramic coating, as it ensures that the surface is completely clean and smooth, allowing the coating to adhere correctly and perform at its best.
  5. Uneven Paint Gloss and Shine Some areas of the Maserati Gran Cabrio had an uneven gloss level due to underlying paint imperfections. This inconsistency could affect the overall finish after the ceramic coating was applied, making some areas appear duller than others.
    Solution:
After addressing the paint imperfections through polishing and correction, we ensured that the gloss level was consistent across all surfaces. By using precise polishing techniques, we created an even, high-gloss finish that would enhance the effect of the ceramic coating, ensuring the vehicle looked uniformly stunning after the coating was applied
