At Kartal Auto, we recently completed a Paint Protection Film (PPF) installation on a stunning Maserati Grecale in Dubai. Our goal was to provide the vehicle with a high level of protection against scratches, chips, and other environmental damage. During the installation, we identified a few issues that required attention to ensure the PPF adhered perfectly and the vehicle looked its best. Here’s a breakdown of the challenges we encountered and the solutions we implemented:

Issue Found:

1. Issue: Uneven Film Application

  • Problem: During the initial installation, we noticed some areas of the PPF had uneven coverage, leading to visible lines and inconsistent application, especially around curved surfaces.
  • Solution: We carefully removed the improperly applied film and re-applied it with precision, ensuring the PPF was smoothly and evenly distributed across the entire surface. Special care was taken around edges and curves to achieve a flawless, seamless appearance.

2. Issue: Air Bubbles Under the Film

  • Problem: Small air bubbles had formed underneath the PPF in certain areas, which could have compromised the film’s durability and the visual appeal of the car.
  • Solution: Our team used advanced techniques and tools to remove the air bubbles by carefully lifting and reapplying the PPF. Heat was applied to ensure perfect adhesion to the vehicle’s surface, leaving no air pockets or bubbles under the film.

3. Issue: Dirt Traps Between the Film and the Paint

  • Problem: During the installation process, some dust and debris had settled between the paint and the PPF, potentially leading to imperfections and affecting the film’s longevity.
  • Solution: We thoroughly cleaned and prepped the vehicle’s surface before the second application of the PPF. A careful, dust-free environment was maintained during the reinstallation to prevent any dirt from getting trapped, ensuring the film adhered perfectly to the paint.

4. Issue: Film Edges Lifting

  • Problem: Some areas of the PPF started to lift slightly at the edges due to improper heat treatment during the installation process.
  • Solution: We re-heat treated the edges of the film to ensure they adhered fully to the surface. By applying the right amount of heat, we sealed the edges properly, preventing any future lifting or peeling and ensuring the film stays intact for years.

5. Issue: Incorrect Film Cutouts for Vehicle Features

  • Problem: The initial cutouts for certain vehicle features, such as side mirrors and door handles, were not perfectly aligned, causing misalignment with the PPF.
  • Solution: We carefully re-measured and customized the cutouts to perfectly fit around each feature, ensuring a clean, precise fit for all areas of the vehicle. This attention to detail ensured the PPF provided full coverage without affecting the vehicle’s design or functionality.
