At Kartal Auto, we recently had the privilege of applying a ceramic coating to the legendary Rolls Royce Phantom I in Dubai. Known for its unparalleled luxury and exquisite craftsmanship, the Phantom I deserved a level of protection that matched its iconic status. Ceramic coating offers a superior protective layer, keeping the vehicle’s exterior looking pristine while shielding it from environmental elements. During the application process, we encountered and resolved several key issues to ensure the car was properly prepped and protected. Below are the top 5 issues we identified and the solutions we implemented:

Issue Found:

1. Oxidized and Dull Paintwork

  • Issue: Over time, the Phantom I’s paint had become dull and oxidized, reducing its depth and luster, making the car appear older and worn.
  • Solution: We began the ceramic coating process with a thorough paint correction. Our experts removed any oxidation, scratches, and swirl marks through a multi-stage polishing process, restoring the paint’s vibrancy and shine. This ensured that the paint surface was in optimal condition for the ceramic coating application, allowing it to bond securely and offer long-lasting protection.

2. Surface Contaminants

  • Issue: The exterior of the vehicle had accumulated contaminants like tar, road grime, and industrial fallout, which can affect both the paint and the ceramic coating’s bond.
  • Solution: We used a clay bar treatment to decontaminate the paint and remove all embedded impurities. This left the surface smooth and clean, which is essential for ensuring the ceramic coating adheres properly and forms a uniform, effective barrier against contaminants in the future.

3. Water Spots and Mineral Build-up

  • Issue: Water spots and mineral deposits were visible on the paint, likely due to Dubai’s hot climate and exposure to hard water, detracting from the vehicle’s shine.
  • Solution: We used a specialized water spot remover to eliminate the mineral deposits from the paint. After cleaning, we applied the ceramic coating, which helps to create a hydrophobic layer, ensuring that water beads off the surface easily, preventing future water spots and mineral build-up.

4. Scratches and Swirl Marks

  • Issue: The paint had several minor scratches and swirl marks from improper washing and everyday wear, diminishing the car’s flawless finish.
  • Solution: Our team carefully performed paint correction to eliminate the swirl marks and minor scratches. By using advanced polishing techniques, we restored the paint’s original clarity, smoothness, and gloss, providing an ideal surface for the ceramic coating to bond with.

5. Lack of Protective Layer

  • Issue: The vehicle’s paint had no protective layer, leaving it vulnerable to environmental damage such as UV rays, bird droppings, tree sap, and road salts, which can degrade the paint over time.
  • Solution: After the surface was prepped and free of contaminants, we applied a high-quality ceramic coating to the entire exterior of the vehicle. This coating forms a durable, long-lasting layer that protects the paint from harmful UV rays, chemicals, dirt, water, and minor scratches, ensuring the car remains in pristine condition for years.
