At Kartal Auto, we recently had the honor of working on the interior design of the iconic Rolls Royce Phantom II in Dubai. Known for its unparalleled luxury and meticulous craftsmanship, the Phantom II demanded our expert touch to refine and elevate its interior. Our team encountered several unique challenges in preserving the vehicle’s historic charm while integrating modern elements of comfort and functionality. Here’s a detailed look at the 5 key issues we identified and the bespoke solutions we implemented to restore and enhance the Phantom II’s interior:
Issue Found:
1. Outdated Dashboard and Instrumentation
- Issue: The dashboard and instrumentation had become outdated over time, with some gauges and buttons showing signs of wear and no longer matching the modern standards of luxury.
- Solution: We completely restored and reupholstered the dashboard using premium leather and wood veneers that matched the original craftsmanship. For the instrumentation, we updated the gauges to high-quality, bespoke components that blend classic design with modern functionality, offering both aesthetic appeal and precise performance.
2. Worn and Dull Wood Trim
- Issue: The wood trim throughout the interior had lost its original luster, with scratches, discoloration, and fading, which affected the vehicle’s overall sophistication.
- Solution: We refinished the wood trim by sanding, polishing, and re-lacquering it with high-quality, durable varnish, bringing back its deep, rich finish. The restoration process not only enhanced the visual appeal of the wood but also preserved its integrity for future use.
3. Stained and Worn Upholstery
- Issue: The upholstery, including the seats, door panels, and armrests, showed signs of wear, stains, and discoloration from years of use.
- Solution: We replaced the old, worn leather and fabric with custom-made upholstery using premium materials that matched the vehicle’s original design. We also restored any areas of the interior that required cleaning, ensuring the leather was conditioned and the fabric was treated to prevent future stains.
4. Dull and Inefficient Lighting
- Issue: The interior lighting was outdated, leading to a dim and uninspiring cabin environment, especially at night.
- Solution: We upgraded the interior lighting to ambient LED lighting, offering adjustable brightness and creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. The new lighting system highlighted the vehicle’s luxurious features, like the custom upholstery and wood accents, adding a modern touch without compromising the Phantom II’s classic aesthetic.
5. Lack of Modern Comfort Features
- Issue: The interior, while luxurious, lacked some modern comfort features, such as advanced seat adjustments and high-tech entertainment systems, which would elevate the driving experience.
- Solution: We integrated state-of-the-art seat adjustment systems, including heating, cooling, and memory settings, for added comfort. Additionally, we installed a discreet infotainment system that provides modern conveniences such as Bluetooth connectivity, navigation, and high-quality audio, blending seamlessly into the interior without disrupting the vehicle’s classic charm.
