At Kartal Auto, we specialize in offering premium protection services for luxury vehicles, and our recent Paint Protection Film (PPF) job on a Maserati MC20 in Dubai is a perfect example of our commitment to excellence. During the application process, our team identified several issues that needed attention to ensure the Maserati received the highest level of protection. Below, we outline the issues we found and the solutions we implemented to provide the best possible outcome for the Maserati MC20.

Issues Found:

  1. Minor Paint Imperfections and Scratches Upon inspecting the Maserati MC20’s paint before applying the PPF, we found minor scratches and imperfections on the surface, particularly around the front bumper and side panels. These imperfections could affect the smoothness and overall look of the PPF, potentially leading to uneven adhesion or a less-than-ideal finish.
    Solution:
To address this, we performed a thorough paint correction on the affected areas. Using advanced polishing techniques, we removed the scratches and imperfections, ensuring the paint surface was smooth and flawless. This allowed the PPF to adhere properly and provided a smooth, clear finish without any visible defects beneath the film.
  2. Environmental Contaminants on the Surface During the pre-installation inspection, we noticed that the Maserati had some road grime, tar, and other environmental contaminants stuck to the paint, particularly on the lower sections and wheel arches. These contaminants can cause issues with PPF adhesion, leading to bubbles or lifting edges.
    Solution:
We conducted a comprehensive decontamination process, using specialized cleaners and clay bar treatments to remove all contaminants from the paint surface. This ensured that the surface was perfectly clean and smooth before the PPF was applied, ensuring optimal adhesion and durability of the film.
  3. Uneven Gloss and Shine Some sections of the car had uneven gloss and shine due to the underlying paint imperfections, especially around the curves of the fenders and door edges. This can create an inconsistent finish once the PPF is applied, affecting the overall appearance.
    Solution:
After correcting the paint imperfections, we performed additional polishing to even out the gloss across the vehicle. This ensured that the Maserati MC20 would have a consistent, high-gloss finish once the PPF was applied, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the car.
  4. Previous Protection Film (If Applicable) Not Properly Removed In some instances, the Maserati MC20 had remnants of previous protective films that were not completely removed. This could create bumps or bubbles under the new PPF, impacting both the appearance and performance of the new film.
    Solution:
We carefully removed the old protection film, making sure there was no adhesive residue or leftover material on the surface. This thorough cleaning process ensured that the new PPF would have a perfect bond with the paint, providing superior protection and a seamless finish.
  5. Exposed Edges and Potential Lifting Areas While inspecting the car, we discovered some areas where the edges of the PPF could be prone to lifting over time, particularly around door handles, side mirrors, and the rear bumper. Exposed edges can lead to peeling and potential damage to the paint beneath.
    Solution:
We ensured that the PPF was applied with precision, wrapping it around difficult areas like door handles and mirrors, and ensuring that all edges were sealed properly. By carefully trimming and applying the film in these intricate areas, we eliminated the risk of lifting and ensured long-lasting protection for every part of the vehicle.
